  • John F. Moutz, 49, of Chicopee, KS, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Via Christi Hospital.
    He was born May 1, 1964, at Pittsburg, KS, the son of Rudolph “Rudy” and Madeline (Scaramucci) Moutz. He attended Pittsburg Schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1982.
    After high school John enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1986.
    He worked as a jailer for Crawford County, a truck driver, and also worked for Superior Industries and Jake’s Fireworks.
    John enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He also liked playing poker with family.
    Membership was held in the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard.
    He is survived by his mother, Madeline Moutz of Chicopee, KS; a son, John Francis Moutz, Jr. of Girard, KS; a daughter, Stephanie Marie Moutz of Girard, KS; a brother, Scott A. Moutz of Chicopee, KS; a sister, Julie Joe Jenkins of Ocala, FL.
    He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents Frank and Josephine Moutz and Ferdinando and Angelina Scaramucci.
    Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (May 15) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, with Father Thomas Stroot as Celebrant. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the church. Mr. Moutz has been cremated and a private burial will take place at a later date. The family suggests memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Memorial Fund and/or the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
