Joplin Tristatesmen Barbershop Chorus will host its first Youth in Harmony  Festival at 7 p.m. April 11 at Pittsburg Memorial Auditorium.
The event will include performances by the Tristatesmen, Youth in Harmony Students and the Noise Boys, who are past Central States District Quartet champions.
Youth in Harmony events are designed to preserve the art form of barbershop singing by introducing it to a new generation of singers. Open to students of all ages, these events give high school men and women the opportunity to explore harmony with their peers.
YIH events also serve as a vehicle to advocate singing at all levels of society and to keep recreational and social singing as an important part of American culture.
Participants will rehearse two songs during the afternoon before the show, and will have the opportunity to join in song with other young men and women who enjoy singing four-part harmony.
The show will be open to the public. Tickets will be $7.50 at the door. Anyone needing additional information or wishing to register to participate in the event should call Jeremy Albright, 620-249-1605 or e-mail Jeremy.albright@gmail.com.
