John Robert Scott, 81, of Pittsburg, died at 7am, Sunday, December 26, 2010 at his home following a lengthy illness.


John Robert Scott, 81, of Pittsburg, died at 7am, Sunday, December 26, 2010 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 23, 1929 in Osawatomie, Kan., the son of James and Mattie Scott.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and Air Force.

On October 30, 1954, he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Zachary, she survives him of the home.

John worked as a Master Mechanic for Yellow Freight in Baxter Springs, KS and was a member of the Teamsters Union.

He was a member of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Pittsburg.  He was a 33rd Degree Mason, Past Grand Worthy Patron and a serving Patron of the Sahara Chapter #28 of the Order of Eastern Star.

Additional survivors include three sons: Doug Poncil of Pittsburg, Rob Scott of Las Vegas, NV and John W. “Wes” Scott of Pittsburg; two daughters: Janice Scott and Lea Ann Scott both of Dallas, TX.  Grandchildren Sean, Shellee, Tia, Jackson, Erica, Ashley, Porsche; great-grandchildren Aubree, Sydney, Kersee, Kellan, Chase, Sierra, Tucker, Emma and Quentin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: James and William Scott, two sisters: Corrine Glenn and Orpha Wilson.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg.  Cremation will follow the services.  Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.  Memorials may be made to the Via Christi Cancer Center and/or Angels Among Us; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.  Services by Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
