The GHS Marching Band traveled to San Antonio, Texas, Nov. 25-29 to march at Sea World and participate in various activities.

The GHS Marching Band traveled to San Antonio, Texas, Nov. 25-29 to march at Sea World and participate in various activities.

Band members departed from the high school at 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening and spent the night on a bus. The following morning they toured the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Later that day the group headed to Galveston to collect shells and wade at the beach.

On Saturday the band toured the Alamo and explored the River Walk at San Antonio by tour boat. That evening they travelled to Six Flags and stayed until closing at 10 p.m.

The next morning the band marched through Sea World and took an official group photo. All of Sunday was spent at Sea World where students did everything from pet dolphins to ride roller coasters.

Clarinet-Bethany Baker, Alex Battitori, Shaylene Copenhaver, Tanim Dillon, Courtney Glasgow, Jordan Lowe, Jarred Mellish, Kristen O’Toole, and Ashley Sayre;

Alto sax-Austin Egbert, John Hey, Ryan Hisey, Alex Hughes, and Blake Marshall;

Tenor sax-Nicholas George and James Spieth;

Trumpet-Derrick Amend, Paxton Boore, Ashlee Hisey, Baylee Hisey, Chanel Jackson, Amanda Longpine, Abbie Stephan, and Zach Trageser;

Trombone-Caleb Egbert and Nathan George;

Baritone-John Duling and Chris Reynolds;

Percussion-Kyle Bauder, Lucas Gorentz, Logan Hirst, Krista Jarboe, Chris Patterson, and Alex Tippie.

Flag team members were Paige Harrod, Delaney Hirst, and Haley Pitts, and drum majorette was Natalie Duling.

About his experience, senior Logan Hirst said, “The band trip was a riveting and exciting adventure that I think future students should have the opportunity to experience.”

Alex Battitori said, “It was really fun, but unusually cold for Texas.”

In two years the band hopes to perform in Florida as they have done in the past.
