Crawford County has been awarded $11,296 by the State Set-Aside Committee.
The funds are awarded through the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The local board of Crawford County is charged to distribute the funds appropriated to help the agencies in Crawford County meet the needs of low-income families with additional funding for food and shelter programs.
The local board, The Salvation Army, Wesley House, United Way, the Southeast Kansas Community Action Program and Catholic Charities are responsible for the distribution of the funds among the agencies in Crawford County.
Under the terms of the grant, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary non-profits; 2) have an accounting system; 3) practice non-discrimination; 4) have demonstrated the capacity to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs; and 5) if it is a voluntary organization, it must have a voluntary board.
