Kay A. Pontious, 67 of Pittsburg, KS died at 4:40pm, Friday, April 25, 2008 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg, KS.
She was born September 29, 1940 in Bartlesville, OK the daughter of George W. and Clara L. (Osgood) Keller. She attended school in Parsons and graduated from the Parsons High School with the class of 1959.
On July 19, 1959 she was united in marriage to James L. Pontious in Parsons, KS
Kay was a member of the South Broadway Baptist Church where she served as the Church Secretary for several years. She also served on the Board of Trustees, Hospitality committee, the Sunnysiders, greeters team Captain and was the President of Church Women United. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary Post #64 and Arma Post #182, serving as treasurer and past president, she was also the current president of the 3rd District and had also served as Secretary/Treasurer and past President. Kay was a member of the Eagles Arie 2014 where she was the secretary. Salon Chapeau – Dept. Chapeau (Secretary/treasurer, Crawford County Salon 524 8/40.
Survivors include her husband James of the home and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Shirley Greenwood.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the South Broadway Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, KS. Family will receive friends at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
