For the second consecutive year, Central Missouri's Kirk Pedersen and Pittsburg State's Russ Jewett have been selected as MIAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Coaches of the Year, respectively, by league coaches.

Pedersen earned his ninth MIAA Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year award after guiding Central Missouri to its league-leading 14th MIAA title. Two Mules, champion Laban Sialo and third-place finisher Dalton Moberly, earned All-MIAA honors by finishing in the top 10 individually.

Jewett has now won six MIAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year awards. His Pittsburg State women claimed their eighth MIAA title, the most of any current conference school. Four Gorillas finished in the top 15 individually, including Melissa Peden, who earned All-MIAA honors by finishing in sixth place.

Next up for MIAA cross country squads is the NCAA South Central Regional Championships Nov. 5 in Wichita Falls, Texas. The 2011 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships will be held Nov. 19 at Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex in Spokane, Wash.
