Kiwanis Club
Pittsburg Kiwanis Club will meet at noon in dePaul Hall, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.
State Rep. Julie Menghini, Pittsburg-Democrat, will discuss children’s issues of the 2009 Kansas Legislative Session.
Rick Hudson will be greeter, and Ro Jean Ward will give the invocation. Cashier will be Bob Casino.

UMWA
Local 14, United Mine Workers of America, will have a monthly meeting at 1 p.m. at the Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 post home, 2815 N. Joplin. All UMWA members may attend.

TOPS No. KS 884
TOPS No. KS 884 will meet at 9 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Towers. Anyone needing additional information may call 231-5447.

Frontenac bingo
Frontenac American Legion will sponsor bingo, open to the public, every Thursday at the Frontenac Senior Citizens Center.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., and play starts at 6:30 p.m. A total of 16 games are played, and the evening usually ends about 8:30 p.m.

Franklin Farmers Market
FRANKLIN — Farmers Market will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. every Thursday at the Franklin Community Park, Highway  69 Business. Fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, plants, baked goods, preserves and crafts will be available.
Vendors may set up for free. Anyone needing additional information may call the Franklin Community Center and Heritage Museum, 620-347-4220.

Sloppy Joe Night
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will host Sloppy Joe Night from 5 to 7 p.m. at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin. Sloppy Joes will be available for $1.50.
Lounge will open at 3 p.m.

Arma Homecoming Committee
ARMA — Arma Homecoming Committee will have its final meeting for the year at 7  p.m. at the Arma Community Center.
All committee members are asked to attend, and any persons wanting to keep the event going need to come to begin planning for the 2010 Arma V-J Homecoming.

Phi Kappa Chapter
Members of Phi Kappa Chapter, Phi Tau Omega sorority, will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Westco parking lot to carpool to Downstream Casino for the chapter’s August social with potential pledges.
