The 2010 Colonial Fox Theatre Foundation Friday  Flix Series will conclude at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 with “The Polar Express,” which will kick off the Pittsburg Broadway District Holiday Open House Weekend.

The feature will play in the space between the historic theater and the M&I Bank building on the outside wall of the theater.

The holiday tale, suitable for the entire family, tells of a young boy who still wants to believe in Santa Claus, even though his friends have all outgrown this belief. His faith is rewarded when a steam train pulls up to his house and escorts him to the North Pole to meet Santa.

The “motion capture” process used to film the story allows real-life actors, including  Tom Hanks in four roles, to drive the emotions and movements of the animated characters.

A $3 donation is suggested, and concessions will be available. Proceeds will benefit the Colonial Fox Theatre Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to reviving Pittsburg’s downtown district.
