This year's Fourth of July fireworks display in Pittsburg has been canceled as part of city budget cuts.
John Van Gorden, interim city manager, said the city has had to cut approximately $700,000 from this year's budget, and the annual fireworks display was included in those cuts. Last year, the fireworks display cost $17,000.
Van Gorden said the city hopes to continue the popular event in 2010.
