Dear editor:
At this election time I have been trying to become more involved in getting to know our candidates and making at least an informed decision as best I can.

I have found that most people are running scared and reaching for change to improve their lifestyle and return to a more secure time. Because of this attitude I feel many mistakes are going to be made, not only nationally but more importantly their decision for change is going to affect our local area.

I also believe people are going to vote for the “newcomer” simply because they are new and have ideas on how to solve everyone’s problems. I have found some of these ideas are radical and will cause more chaos and problems than we have already. However, they feel anything is better than what we have now. This is a major mistake for not evaluating the candidates for what they truly stand for and what they are capable of accomplishing.

I would suggest to everyone to please be more careful and get as much information as possible about our candidates and vote for persons actually qualified for the position to hold the office they seek.
The old adage of staying quiet and allowing people to think you a fool rather than opening your mouth and proving it is apparently quite true for some persons.

I genuinely hope we can elect the right person for the job and not just because they are the new kid on the block.
