American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Crawford County will be held from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday at Hutchinson Field.

American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Crawford County will be held from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday at Hutchinson Field.

Theme will be “When Hope Began,” reflecting on this year as the 25th anniversary of Relay for Life.

A total of 251 participants on 27 teams have registered for the event, along with cancer survivors, caregivers and family members. Many teams will have on-site fundraisers such as games, face painting, homemade ice cream and concessions.

Opening ceremonies will be at 6:30 p.m., with an introduction of survivors and team introduction. By tradition, cancer survivors take the first lap around the field.

A luminary ceremony will take place at 9 p.m., with luminaries lit to remember those lost to cancer, cancer survivors and caretakers. Luminaries are $5, and may be purchased through Relay for Life teams or at Party Supplies Unlimited.

Entertainment is planned throughout the event, with the Pittsburg Family YMCA dancers at 8 p.m., Elvis at 10 p.m., Jeff Sandess and Todd Loveland at 11 p.m., Dustin Treiber and Chase Robinson at midnight, Alex Moore at 2 a.m., a Fight Back ceremony at 3 a.m., CHS Unleashed at 4 a.m., Missions Games at 5 a.m. and the closing ceremony at 5:30 a.m.
