Arthur Leon Bailey, 80, of Fort Scott, died Friday morning, May 29, 2009 at his home. 
He was born June 21, 1928 in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Cliff and Susie Mae (Endicott) Bailey.  He married Rose Mary Clyburn December 18, 1949 in Garland, Kansas. She survives of the home.
He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII, and then went into the Marine Corps Reserve.  He then joined the US Army National Guard, and retired as a Captain in 1967.  Memberships include Order of the Easter Star #325 in Garland, the Memphis lodge #108 for sixty years, the Mirza Shrine, and a Life Member of the Fort Scott Scottish Rite.  He was also a lifetime member of the VFW. 
In addition to his wife Rose Mary, he is survived by a son; Larry D. Bailey and his wife Bonne, of Nevada, MO, a daughter; Debra S. Holt and her husband Randall, of Fort Scott, six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at the US National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas.  The family will receive friends 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday May 31, 2009, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Mirza Transportation Fund, and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W.
