Trick or Treat for Wesley House, a food drive, will be held on Sunday, with volunteers collecting canned goods to feed hungry families in Crawford County.

Pittsburg residents wishing to participate are encouraged to have canned foods in paper or plastic sacks for the trick-or-treaters, who will begin visiting neighborhoods at 6 p.m. In addition, several local businesses will serve as drop-off points for canned goods. They are the Corner Bistro, Long John Silver’s, Verizon Wireless and Family Video.

This is the first time for the Trick-or-Treat. The idea originated with Tony D’Amico, recent Pittsburg State University graduate.

“I’m just doing this because I saw a need for help and decided it was time for me to step up and do something about it,” he said.

“The look on a person’s face that you just helped in their most dire time of need is worth more than almost anything to me.”

Volunteer trick-or-treaters are still needed. Anyone interested in helping or needing additional information about the food drive may contact D’Amico at 620-687-4148.
