“HOWL-oween,” a costume contest for dogs, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Band Dome.
There will be no entry fee, but donations will be accepted, with proceeds going to help with the medical expenses of Brock Bair, 2, who suffered a brain injury at birth. He undergoes therapies daily, and all funds raised will be to help the child receive additional treatments.
Registration will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m., with awards given at 2:30 p.m. Categories will include scariest, ugliest, most original dog, biggest, smallest, best howl, best trick, cutest and look-alike. Prizes will be given.
The Southeast Kansas Humane Society will be present with several dogs who are available for adoption.
In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Homer Cole Community Center.

Elevator dedication
ARMA — Arma United Methodist Church will dedicate its recently installed elevator.
Worship services will be at 11 a.m., followed by a carry-in dinner. Dedication of the elevator is set for 1 p.m. All are welcome.

‘Trunk or Treat’
GIRARD — Living Faith Church will sponsor “Trunk or Treat” for youngsters from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Forest Street on the Girard Square.
