Elwyn Davis, program chairman for the day, will introduce guest speaker Kevin Muff, Pittsburg State University men’s basketball coach.

Rotary Club
Pittsburg Rotary Club will meet at noon in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital.

Speaker will be Patrick Stoddart, Pittsburg State University student and owner/founder of RED Development, a software firm he started in high school. He will discuss the challenges of starting and financing a new business venture.

Chuck Peterson will give the invocation and Elias Tawil will serve as sergeant at arms. Jon Bartlow will be song leader and also have introductions.

Violin recital
Tami Lee Hughes, violin professor at the University of Kansas, will perform a free public violin recital at 7:30 p.m. in McCray Recital Hall, Pittsburg State University.

Hughes has appeared with several symphony orchestras across the United States, and performed as a recitalist at universities and concert venues in the United States, Costa Rica, Bermuda, Austria and Russia.

She was a violinist for the film music of “The Only Good Indian,” a 2009 Sundance Film Festival motion picture, has recorded as a studio violinist for several artistsm including Aretha Franklin, and appeared in live concert with Smokey Robinson.

In August 2011 Albany records released her debut solo album titled “Legacy: Violin Music of African-American Composers.

She will be assisted by pianist Avguste Antonov. They will perform works by Hughes, Morrison, Mozart, Pann and Schumann. Anyone wishing to learn more about her may visit www.tamileehughes.com.

Scottish Rite
FORT SCOTT — Coffee and doughnuts will be served at 8 a.m. every Tuesday at the Scottish Rite Center, 110 S. Main, Fort Scott.

There will be no set agenda or predetermined topic, simply conversation among friends. Everyone is welcome to attend,  and need not be Scottish Rite members or Masons.  Men attending are welcome to bring their wives or friends.

ARMA TOPS
ARMA — The ARMA TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Chapter meetings include private weigh-in, information on good nutrition, educational programs and moral support and encouragement to help members reach their weight loss goals.
