The Lions used a walk-off single to edge the Gorillas, 2-1, in a pitcher’s duel in game one. After trailing 11-1 after four innings, Pitt State battled back in the nightcap before falling by a 15-10 margin.

In the opener, Austin Lastimado went 1-for-2 with the lone Pitt State RBI.

Matt Stalcup (4-2) pitched a complete game in the loss. He allowed two earned runs, walking two batters and striking out two others.
MSSU's Cody Griebling (5-2) gave up four hits and an unearned run.

In the second game, PSU allowed big innings as the Lions put together a three-run first inning and a two-out rally to score six runs in the fourth inning. The Gorillas put together back-to-back productive innings scoring three in the fifth and two in the sixth, before adding two runs apiece in the eighth and ninth frames.

Matt Garcia went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Ryan Reddick, Jacoby Martin and Adam Reed all drove in a pair of runs.

The Gorillas are now 10-11 overall and 8-6 in MIAA play on the season, while the Lions move to 19-7 overall and 12-6 in the MIAA.

Pitt State heads to Bolivar, Mo., this weekend to take on Southwest Baptist in doubleheaders Friday and Saturday (Mar. 30-31). First pitch is set for 1 p.m. both days.
