Amy Grotheer, daughter of Dennis Grotheer and Debra Freeman, Pittsburg, will be among the candidates competing for the title of Miss Teen of Kansas at the 2008 State Pageant, to be held Friday through Sunday in Manhattan.

Amy Grotheer, daughter of Dennis Grotheer and Debra Freeman, Pittsburg, will be among the candidates competing for the title of Miss Teen of Kansas at the 2008 State Pageant, to be held Friday through Sunday in Manhattan.
Winner will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship and a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond. The new state titleholder will also be eligible to compete for the title of Miss Teen of America, along with additional scholarships, awards and prizes.
State candidates will be scored in five judging categories, including scholastic record, achievement and service to school and community, personal development of talents and skills, personality projection in formal wear, and interview.
Sixty percent of the judging involves written resumes detailing each contestant’s accomplishments, with the strongest single category being her interview with the judges.
State pageant finals will be held at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3 in Forum Hall Auditorium, Kansas State University. The event will be open to the public, and tickets will be available at the door.
Grotheer will be sponsored in the pageant by the Cherokee Ruritan Club, Grotheer Farms, Inc., Frank and Tracy Freeman, Kozy Korner Restaurant, Mary Pouch, R& J’s Convenient Store, Pittsburg Model Railroad Club, Carolyn Robinson, Greg Shaw and Mark and Donna Winter.
