Ray Darrell Brown, 76, Haven, died peacefully in his sleep Friday, April 25, 2008, at his home.
He was born July 8, 1931  at McPherson to Ray E. and Fora Marshall Brown. He had been a Haven resident for two years, and was formerly of Arma. He graduated from Lyons High School and from Adela Hale Business College, Hutchinson. Mr. Brown was a retired Sears appliance salesman.
He was a member of the Haven Methodist Church. He had been a member of Masonic Lodge No. 409 in Arma and served as lodge master; was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 43 in Nickerson, and served as master during its centennial year; and was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 124, Hutchinson. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite in Wichita and Fort Scott. He was a Hospital Dad through Mirza Temple in Pittsburg, and through the years belonged to several units.
Mr. Brown served in the 38th Ordinance, U.S. Army.
On July 4, 1952 he married Rosalie Danks in Lyons. On May 14, 1990 he married Darlene B. Miller in Newkirk, Okla. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Michael Brown, Honolulu, Hawaii; a daughter, Linda Brown, Hutchinson; a stepson, Eric Miller, Oakland, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Marlene Chambers, Pratt, and Diana Nulf, Hutchinson; a brother Lanny Brown, Topeka; one grandson, Leko Simmons; and five step-grandchildren, including Jason and Joshua Chambers and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Dwight “Mike” Brown, Dean Brown and Jerry Brown, and a sister, Daisy Roberts.
Memorial services will be held at a later date with Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, in charge.
