Freeman Health System will offer a free health screening for early detection and prevention from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Homer Cole Pittsburg Community Center.
Free health screening will include lipid/blood panel, blood cholesterol, glucose, prostate cancer screening, body fat composition, nutritional counseling, osteoporosis screening, vision screening and blood pressure/pulse.
Other lab work will be available for a fee, with checks and credit cards accepted. This will include TSH and T4 (thyroid), complete blood count, basic metabolic panel, hepatic function and health profile (which includes all these tests for a $10 saving).
Also available will be comprehensive metabolic panel, AIC, gout screening (uric acid), cardio reactive protein and homocystine level.
For best results, those being tested should avoid food and beverages, except water, for eight hours prior to testing. Those having glucose testing should avoid food and beverages, except water, for four hours prior to the test. Routine medications should be taken as usual.
Also participating in the health fair will be the Mt. Carmel Cancer Center Mammography Van, Mt. Carmel Pulmonary Rehab Center, American Home Patient Medical Equipment, Angels Care Home Health, Jeremy Jansen, YMCA massage therapist, Sunset Manor of Frontenac and Curves.
