Descendants of James and Rose Naccarato held a family reunion Aug. 2 at the Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark, Dubuque, Iowa.

Descendants of James and Rose Naccarato held a family reunion Aug. 2 at the Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark, Dubuque, Iowa.
The event was planned and coordinated by Julie Franch Favata, Debra Favata Bartelt and Patricia Favata Andolino.
All 10 children of the Martino family are deceased. They were Mary Benso, Florence Talarico, Julie Franch, Virginia Principe, Ethel Jewell, Bruno Martino, Frank Martino, Alex Martino, Louie Martino and Mike Martino.
An Italian dinner was catered for the event at the Grand Harbor Hotel. Families attending were introduced, and each told of a memory or event regarding the Martino family. The Favata family received the traveling prize for having the most members attending the reunion.
An auction was held with items donated by family members. Among the items were a framed genealogy chart of the Martino family and a framed picture of James and Rose Martino with a short story of their life. Each family member attending received a copy of these articles. There were also heirloom dolls, a University of Kansas championship shirt and hat, some Kansas City Bryant’s Barbecue Sauce and other items.
Children played in the waterpark, and some family members attended area casinos.
Family members attending were as follows: Al and Julie (Franch) Favata, Bloomington, Ill.; Alan and Tammy Favata, Joey and Sarah, Wheaton, Ill.; John and Debbie (Favata) Bartelt, Danny, Anna and Julia, Wheeling, Ill.; Christopher and Merri Beth (Boyd) Kudrna, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Larry and Patricia (Favata) Andolino and Sammy, Chicago, Ill.; Craig and Jennifer (Franch) Blackwell and Madeline, Chicago, Ill.; Bob Franch and Sheri Esch, Glendale Heights, Ill.; John Franch, Joe Cologna and Dave and Corrine Principe, all of Melrose Park, Ill.; Tony and Dina (Principe) Sbarra, Anthony and Krista, Chicago, Ill.; Phil and Patty (Talarico) Whitmore, Olathe; and Pete and Mary Ann (Talarico) Boyd, Arma.
The next family reunion will be held in Arma, and hosted by Mary Ann Boyd and families.
