Thumbs up... to the Pittsburg City Commission, who approved some steps to help Kendall Packaging expand during a meeting earlier this week. Commissioners approved a $411,000 CDBG loan to Kendall Packaging, at 1 percent interest for a seven-year term. Overall, the move could lead to 6-10 new jobs over the next three to five years, a Kendall official said.
Thumbs up... to the Pittsburg High School student-athletes who combined to win the 2008-09 Martin Rohde All-Sports Memorial Trophy. The trophy is awarded to the school that amasses the most points based on league championships won over the course of the school year.
Thumbs up... to Pittsburg State student-athletes Caleb Farabi and Venessa Lee, who have been nominated for the MIAA’s student-athlete of the year award.
