Robert G. “Bob” Ross, 73 of rural Pittsburg, KS died at 11:43 pm, Monday, April 28, 2008 at Freeman West Hospital following a short illness.

Robert G. “Bob” Ross, 73 of rural Pittsburg, KS died at 11:43 pm, Monday, April 28, 2008 at Freeman West Hospital following a short illness.
He was born February 2, 1935 in rural Pittsburg to Samuel and Allie Elizabeth (Holler) Ross.  He attended area schools and graduated from the Cherokee County Community High School in Columbus, KS with the class of 1951.
On July 18, 1954 he was united in marriage to Gaynol S. McFerron in Lawton, KS, she survives him of the home.
Bob farmed and raised cattle; he also worked at Atkinson Armature Works in Pittsburg for many years in Control Wiring, Fabrication and Maintaining Electrical Equipment.  He then worked for P & M Coal, Clemens Coal and Bill’s Coal Company maintaining coal tipples and coal mining equipment.
Additionally he was employed at Doanes Products in Galena, KS as a maintenance supervisor; ConAgra in Carthage, as an electrician and earlier worked for Himen-Michael Construction and Eagle Picher.  He retired in November of 1997.
During his retirement years Bob bred and raised Appaloosa Show horses.  Many of which won Local, Regional and National Honors and Awards.
Bob was a long-time member of the Community of Christ in Pittsburg.
Additional survivors include two sons: Alan Eugene Ross and his wife Lisa of Stockton, MO, Martin Eric Ross and his wife Lisa Carol of Columbus Grove, OH; Three grandchildren:  Laura Beth Mathews and her husband Chris of Kirksville, MO, Logan Taylor Ross and Makenzie Katherine Ross both of Columbus Grove, OH; two sisters: Dorothy Jean York of Weir, KS, Ella May McKinney of Joplin, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Samuel Charles, Donald Dean, and Billy Joe Ross, an infant brother Gerald Dean Ross and an infant sister Allie Elizabeth Ross.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home with Elder Laura Grotheer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Crocker Cemetery.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm Thursday, where friends may call after 10 am Thursday.  Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.   Memorials may be made to the Community of Christ or Angels Among Us.  These memorials should be left at or mailed to the funeral home.  Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
