WEIR — Weir Public Library board of trustees met Oct. 10 at the library.

Members present were Linda Berning, Roxy Blessent, Cathy Holden, Sue Ann Barnes, Melissa Gardner and Stef Arbuckle. They discussed a variety of possible fundraisers to help with the cost of the automation of the library inventory.

New board members will participate in CORE workshops for certification during October.

Library director Arbuckle is search of her “marbles” that she lost during summer reading. Library patrons have until the end of October to help round up the missing marbles and guess how many marbles the director retained in the guessing jar. Those who guess within 25 marbles of the correct number will receive some marbles of their own for a prize.

Mary Ellis, Opolis, won the hand-carved Native American style flute donated by Paul Lewis,  Weir. Drawing for the flute was held Sept. 17 during the library’s homecoming bake sale.

The Golden Collection of juvenile books was increased by a large donation of Golden Books by Patty Buckley, Scammon.

New to the library’s adult collection are “Kill Me if You Can” and “The Christmas Wedding” by James Patterson; “Late Edition” and “Christmas at Timberwoods” by Fern Michaels; “Heartwishes” by Jude Deveraux; “Prey” by Linda Howard; “Watch Me Die” by Erica Spindler; “Killing the Blues” by Michael Brandman; “Lethal” by Sandra Brown; “Miracle Cure” by Harlan Coben; “Shockwave” by John Sandford; and “The Best of Me” by Nicholas Sparks.

New to the juvenile shelves are “Sisterhood Everlasting” by Ann Brashares; “Theodore Boone: The Abduction” by John Grisham; “Daniel X: Game Over” by James Patterson; “Queen of Hearts” by Martha Brooks; and “The Twin’s Blanket” by Hyewon Yum.
