  • Maxine Louise Johnson, 90 of Columbus, KS died at 9:50 pm, Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Medicalodge of Columbus.

  • Maxine Louise Johnson, 90 of Columbus, KS died at 9:50 pm, Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Medicalodge of Columbus.
    She was born May 30, 1922 in Roseland, KS the daughter of Louis and Angeline (Palumbo) Sachetta.
    On December 12, 1941 she was united in marriage to Clarence Johnson in Columbus, KS; he preceded her in death in 2005.
    Maxine was a Postal Clerk for the US Postal Service in West Mineral, KS from 1944 until 1979, she also worked for the Cherokee County Treasurers office.
    She was a member of the United Methodist Church of West Mineral for many years.  Additional memberships were held in the Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years, NARFE and AARP.  She also volunteered at Big Brutus and was a vocalist for the Page Cavanaugh Orchestra and loved to watch the Lawrence Welk Show, but at the center of her life were her family, kids and grandkids.
    Survivors include a son Randy Johnson (Jeanne) and a daughter Dixie Lea Perry both of West Mineral; three brothers: Angelo Sachetta of Frontenac, KS, Louis Sachetta, Jr. ”Gege” of rural Scammon, KS and William “Bill” Sachetta of Wilmington, DE along with 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Vicki Westervelt, three brothers: Frank, Pete and Alfred Sachetta, a sister Dorothy Boyce and three grandchildren.
    Graveside services will be 10 am, Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at the Hosey Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow.  Friends and family are requested to meet at the cemetery for the services.  Friends may come by the funeral home on Friday from 12 noon to 6pm.  Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. 
    Memorials may be made to the West Mineral Volunteer Fire Dept. these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
