Ron Craven, 61, a lifelong Erie resident, died unexpectedly at 7:11 a.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012 in the Emergency Room at Labette Health in Parsons.

Ron Craven, 61, a lifelong Erie resident, died unexpectedly at 7:11 a.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012 in the Emergency Room at Labette Health in Parsons.

He was born on July 9, 1951 at Parsons to Verle and Helen (Shaw) Craven.  He grew up at Erie and attended Erie schools graduating from Erie High School in 1969.  He attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg (Pittsburg State University) and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration in 1973.

Ron worked as a Kansas State Bank Examiner from 1973 to 1994.  In 1994 he went to work for the Commercial Bank where he managed their branch location at Erie and was still working in the capacity.  He and Shelley Han were united in marriage on October 1, 1983 at the First Christian Church at Erie.  She survives of the home.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Erie and a past member of the Erie Federated Church.  He served as the financial secretary at the Christian Church.

Ron was involved in many activities in the Erie community including a member of the Erie Kiwanis Club serving as secretary and past president, the Erie Lodge No. 76 A.F. & A.M., Erie Chamber of Commerce, served on the chain crew during Erie High School home football games, he supported all extracurricular activities in the Erie school system, and was an active participant in the Erie Reunion.

He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, the Ft. Scott Consistory, and the Mirza Shine in Pittsburg.  Ron loved dogs, hunting, fishing, and traveling.

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his daughter, Ashley Craven of Wichita; his brother, Randy Craven and his wife, JoAnn of Augusta; his sister, Linda Tredway of Friendswood, TX; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Han of Erie; his brothers-in-law; Kevin Han, and his wife, Rhonda of Topeka and Shawn Han, and his wife, Christi of Erie; his nieces and nephews; Chad Tredway, and his, wife Sabrina, Courtney English, and her husband, John, Mystique Guerrero, and her husband, Rudy, Tiffany Willard, and her husband, Joey, Todd Han, Kari Johnson, and her husband Chris, Keegan Han, and his wife, Amy.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, W.J. “Jack” Han.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Erie.  Burial will follow in the East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie from 7 to 8 Wednesday evening.  Friends may call the funeral home after 1 p.m. Wednesday.  Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or to the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home 113 N.
