John Partin II, St. Louis, a member of Fleet Reserve Association Branch 267, was recently elected president of the association’s North Central Region.

He is a Pittsburg native and a graduate of Pittsburg High School.
Partin will serve as a member of FRA’s National  Board of Directors for 2012-2013, representing FRA shipmates who reside in Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Partin joined the FRA in 1978 and has held numerous posts at the local level, including branch president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and a member of the branch’s board of directors. He also served last year as vice president of FRA’s North Central Region.
“It is both an honor and privilege to serve my FRA shipmates, as well as our active duty, Reserve, retired and veteran service members,” Partin said. “We must grow military organizations like FRA, so that their voices are heard on Capitol Hill.”
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1959, serving aboard numerous ships and shore stations. He left the service for several years, then returned in 1969 to continue his career. A Vietnam veteran, he retired in 1982 as a Navy senior chief and spent the following 10 years as a probation/corrections officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Partin is past commodore of the Navy Club of Missouri, chef de gare passe of the 40 & 8, a past American Legion post commander, adjutant of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1102, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of NCPOA.
He is also an active member of the AMVETS and Optimist International.
FRA is a congressionally chartered, non-profit organization representing the interests of current and former enlisted personnel of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.  As the collective voice for all Sea Service personnel since 1924, FRA speaks on behalf of its members on Capitol Hill.
In addition, FRA also sponsors a national Americanism Essay Contest, sponsors an Education Foundation that awards scholarships to deserving college students and assists its members with disaster relief grants.
