    PHS fashion show


    DECA students will host the third annual DECA fashion show from 2:25 to 2:55 p.m. at Pittsburg High School.

    PHS fashion show
    DECA students will host the third annual DECA fashion show from 2:25 to 2:55 p.m. at Pittsburg High School.
    The event has been planned by juniors Sabrina Jones, Johana Hernandez and Ana Salas, who will be taking the project to State DECA, where they hope to place and qualify to participate in the International DECA Competition in Anaheim, Calif.
    Money raised will go to Adopt-a-Family to help Nicole Marie Konopelko, 11, with medical expenses for injuries she suffered in a car accident on Aug. 12. Her father, Dr. Alexander Konopelko, Pittsburg State University physics professor, died in the accident.
    Pittsburg Beautiful
    Pittsburg  Beautiful will meet at noon at the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
    This will be the last meeting of 2012 and officers will be elected for 2013. There will also be discussion on the “Don’t Litter” campaign and an update on the RV and Bike Park project as well as other old and/or new business. Lunch with dessert will be served.
    Anyone interested in helping make Pittsburg a more beautiful place to live may attend.
    Red Hat Belles
    ARMA — Red Hat Belles will meet at noon at Chicken Mary’s. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. 
    Hostesses will be Lucy Benard, Joyce Lloyd, Lori Lloyd, Wilma Lloyd and Tootie Zerngast.
    Pictures will be taken, and members should bring their red hats.
    Zone 6 Garden Club
    Zone 6 Garden Club will have a Christmas meeting at 6 p.m. at Bowen Tree Farm, 996 S. 260th.
    Those attending should bring a covered dish. Beverages will be provided. A Christmas gift exchange will be held for those who wish to participate, with gifts related to gardening not to exceed $10.
    American Legion
    Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will have a special meeting at 7 p.m. at the post home. All members are strongly encouraged to attend.
    Depression Bipolar Support Alliance
    PARSONS — Depression Bipolar Support Alliance will meet at 7 p.m. in the third floor classroom at Labette Health.
    Guest speaker will be Matthew M. Atteberry, executive director for Labette Center for Mental Health Services, Inc. A licensed specialist clinical social worker, he has been with the center for more than 20 years and as served as executive director since 2002.
    He will discuss programs offered by Labette Center, ways in which Labette Center is connected with the community and changes that will be occurring in mental health throughout the upcoming years.
    All interested persons may attend.
    Guitar Club
    First Pitt Guitar Club will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays at the First Christian Church.
    Page 2 of 2 - All guitar players may attend. Groups will be available for beginners, for chording, soloing and other topics, which will change each week. Those attending should bring their guitars.

    Girard TOPS
    GIRARD — TOPS Group #0975, Girard, meets Mondays at the Girard Presbyterian Church. Weigh-in begins at 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.,  with the meeting following.
    All interested persons may attend. Yearly membership is $28 and monthly dues are $5. Anyone needing additional information may call 620-724-8664, 620-719-0710 or 620-724-8784.
    Frontenac card games
    Card games will be played from 1 to 4 p.m. every Monday except holidays at the Frontenac Senior Citizens Building. Primary game is pinochle, but any card game is welcome.

    TOPS No. 599
    TOPS No. 599 (Take off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at College Heights United Methodist Church.
    Private weigh-ins are from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. and are designed to provide motivation and support to help members reach their weight loss goals.
