  • Dear Editor,
Our new City Manager now wants to do away with who we use for trash service.
This plan will do away with our locally owned trash services as they can’t compete with the large out of town companies. If the City Manager would have checked the big out of town are ones with the huge trucks running up down the streets and alleys. I saw the other day that was huge and looked like something out of a space movie.
The local haulers have been in business here for years. They have raised their families here, paid local taxes and hired local people. If the city hadn’t done away with the city wide clean-up this trash problem wouldn’t be near the problem it is. My bill for trash service is very reasonable, but you can bet that if the city takes over it will be expensive. We are all ready paying a huge storm water tax on our water bill and recently had a raise on our water rates.
Hopefully we can keep our local family owned businesses and not bow down to the out of towners. Please call the commissioners to voice your opinion on this subject. If people don’t speak up this City Manager will get his way and he will force the local people out.
