    Sunflower Kiwanis


    Sunflower Kiwanis Club will meet at 6:45 a.m. in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital. Lindy Lawson will open a short business session with members repeating the Kiwanis Defining Statement.

    Sunflower Kiwanis
    Sunflower Kiwanis Club will meet at 6:45 a.m. in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital. Lindy Lawson will open a short business session with members repeating the Kiwanis Defining Statement.
    Carole Robb, program chairman, will introduce Lane Lord, Pittsburg State University head women’s basketball coach. Two team members will also be present.
    Veterans representative
    A veterans service representative will be at the Homer Cole Community Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Anyone needing assistance with veterans benefits or issues may contact Ryan Robinson at 620-331-0540 or the center at 231-9773.
    Rotary Club
    Pittsburg Rotary Club will meet at noon in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital. Program will be presented by Julie Menghini and Michelle Hucke, candidates for the Kansas State House of Representatives.
    Lions Club
    Pittsburg Lions Club will meet at 6 p.m. in the Sheridan Room, Via Christi Hospital. Susan Faucett, president, will preside.
    Club fundraising and plans for the November chili feed will be discussed.
    China travel program
    Bill Sollner, Arma, will present a free public program about his recent travels to China at 6:30 p.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library.
    He traveled extensively through China, including a trip to Guangzhou, a major port city with a history going back thousands of years.
    Sollner documented much of the trip through photos and video, which he has combined into two short movies. He will show some clips from the movies and take questions from the audience.
    Refreshments will be served.
    Chapter IO, PEO
    Chapter IO, PEO, will meet at 9:30 a.m. at 1203 Cedar Crest Drive with Sara Narges and Linda VanLuyck as hostesses.
    Program will be “Today’s Homecoming.”
    Chapter CP, PEO
    Chapter CP, PEO, will meet at 10 a.m. at the home of Koeta Bryant. Mary Lou Farrell and Anne Marie Hudson will serve as co-hostesses.
    Pam Phalen will give an update on the Star Scholarship Program, and Mrs. Bryant will present an overview of the Business Education Alliance Program. Lunch will be served.
    Chapter AQ, PEO
    Chapter AQ, PEO, will meet at 12:30 p.m. at Europe Park, Fourth and Broadway. Co-hostesses will be Ann Elliott, Rita Nelsen and Kristi Bitner.
    Police Officer J.J. Karlinger will give the program on community crime prevention.
    Chapter CJ, PEO
    Chapter CJ, PEO, will meet at 6 p.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library with Pat Clement as hostess. Co-hostesses will be Betty Grisham, Natalie O’Neil and Betsy Oehme.

    Scottish Rite
    FORT SCOTT — Coffee and doughnuts will be served at 8 a.m. every Tuesday at the Scottish Rite Center, 110 S. Main, Fort Scott.
    There will be no set agenda or predetermined topic, simply conversation among friends. Everyone is welcome to attend,  and need not be Scottish Rite members or Masons.  Men attending are welcome to bring their wives or friends.
    ARMA TOPS
    ARMA — The ARMA TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
    Chapter meetings include private weigh-in, information on good nutrition, educational programs and moral support and encouragement to help members reach their weight loss goals.
    Annual membership is $28. Anyone interested in finding out about this chapter may call 620-347-4021 or 620-235-1790.

    Arma bingo
    ARMA — Arma American Legion will have bingo night, starting with early bird games at 6:30 p.m. Regular games will follow immediately after the early bird games.
    Elks bingo
    Pittsburg Elks Lodge will host bingo night, open to the public. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with card sales at 5:30 p.m. and mini games at 6 p.m.  Regular games begin at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available.
    Cake progressive is 30 numbers or less for $200, and super progressive is 36 numbers or less for $502. Blackout is 59 numbers or less for $300.
    Cherry Stripper and dime pull tabs are also available.
    Wing night
    Wing night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pittsburg American Legion Post 64, 2815 N. Joplin, for members and their guests.
    There will be a choice of four flavors of wings and fries.
    Zumba class
    Jessica Wakeman will offer a zumba class from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center, 3003 N. Joplin.
    There will be a $5 fee for the class. Anyone needing additional information may call the center at 231-9773.
    Senior dance
    Senior music/dance night will be held from 7 to  9:30 p.m. at the Homer Cole Community Center, 3003 N. Joplin.
    Area musicians provide music for listening and dancing. Those attending are asked to bring finger foods for refreshments.
    The center will provide coffee and punch. There is a $1 admission fee. Anyone needing additional information may call the center at 231-9773.
