The next phase in the study of a corridor for U.S. Highway 69 through Crawford County was recently funded thanks to a nearly $900,000 grant.

The grant, for $889,200, will go to a corridor study for a bypass of Crawford County on U.S. 69 from north of Arma to the Cherokee County line (U.S. Highway 400).

Funds would be used for preliminary design, traffic forecasting, access management, environmental impacts, market analysis, land use regulation and zoning.

The project is on schedule for final field checks in February 2011.
