Two downed utility poles on Quincy Street at the U.S. Highway 69 bypass are causing traffic to be rerouted in the area.

The poles fell after a mower caught an edge of one of the poles, which caused the pole to break, said Mike Willis with Westar Energy. As the pole fell onto Quincy Street, it brought down another pole down the line.

The accident caused one power line to be draped across the stoplight at the Quincy-69 intersection.

For a few hours, at least, traffic will be blocked along the bypass from Fourth Street to Centennial Street as workers raise the poles into proper position.

Nobody was hurt, there was no reported damage, and there were no reported injuries from the incident.
