Chris Smith scored on a 60-yard run to end the touchdown scoring for Colgan. This was after a two-point conversion in the first quarter.

Andy Farmer ran for a 22-yard touchdown just before halftime and added a two-point conversion after Chris Smith’s touchdown to help lead the Panthers to the win.

The next game is at Girard next Monday.

Pittsburg tops Chanute

Pittsburg’s freshmen and JV teams beat Chanute’s teams Monday night.

In the freshmen game, Marcus Striplin had all of the scoring for the Dragons on a 3-yard touchdown run, a 51-yard touchdown run, and a two-point conversion. PHS won 14-0.
Brendan Maxwell and Brandon Baker both made important defensive plays for the team, on a fumble recovery and a goal-line interception, respectively.

In the JV game, PHS edged out Chanute 17-14 after Scotty Martin made an interception and returned it to the end zone. It was called back on a penalty that still put the team in scoring position for a game-winning field goal by Drew Mattson.

PHS will play at home Monday against Labette County.

Girard beats Southeast
Girard JV outscored Southeast 20-6 to set up a game next week at home against St. Mary’s-Colgan.

Colgan falls to SE

St. Mary’s-Colgan 8th graders pushed Southeast to a late tiebreaker, but couldn’t seal the deal.
Southeast won the match, 16-25, 25-22, 27-25.

In the 7th grade game, Southeast dominated, winning 25-8, 25-11.

Frontenac over Baxter

The 7th grade Raiders beat Baxter Springs 25-20, 25-13.

The 8th grade team won 25-23, 27-25 to advance to 2-3.

The Raiders will play at St. Mary’s next Monday.
