The Southeast Lancers have been an offensive juggernaut in the first three games of the season, averaging over 11 runs per game — helped out by 15-8 and 12-2 road wins over Cherryvale on Thursday.

Southeast overcame its early-season fielding woes by smacking 12 hits in the first game and 13 in the second game. Head coach Mike Bowman said that only one Southeast player did not get a hit in the second game, spreading the offensive wealth.

Big-run innings marked the doubleheader for Southeast — three innings of four runs in the first game and three innings of at least three runs in the second, a run-rule victory for the Lancers highlighted by a five-run fourth.

In the first game, Kalee Ewbank went 3-for-4 and batted in three, Tessa Robin 3-5 and Alex Yeoman 2-4 with two RBI. In the second game, Robin and Chloe Biancarelli each hit 3-4 and freshman pitcher Olivia Powell, making her third career start, limited the Chargers of Cherryvale to only two hits. Cherryvale scored its only two runs of the second game in the first inning and Southeast plated 10 unanswered runs.

Southeast (2-1) opens Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League play on Monday at home against Erie.
