Pittsburg State University will soon present a world-class conference when the College of Technology hosts the 9th annual Investment Casting Engineering Camp from May 28 to June 3.

The conference participants are invited from member companies of the Investment Casting Institute from around the United States, and some of those companies have worldwide connections. Russ Rosmait, university professor of engineering technology, said the conference draws “participants from all over the world.”

Twenty-two industry professionals will travel to PSU for this year’s camp, which gets metal casting professionals up-to-speed on the latest information in the industry. The professionals will take exams and participate in hands-on activities, many relating to the “lost wax” casting process, which was used to make many of the statues on the PSU campus.

Rosmait said PSU is a perfect location for a conference such as this.

“Our technology center is one of the most well-equipped facilities in the nation to handle this, and we have the latest equipment for this industry,” Rosmait said.

Pittsburg State is also home to the only Investment Casting Institute (ICI) Certification Program in the world, having partnered with New Jersey-based ICI to develop the program.
