Many times you will travel by a resident and see a neatly groomed yard, but can’t see what the backyard offers.  The Columbus Chamber of Commerce, with the help of 6 residents will make available their backyards to be viewed on June 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Many times you will travel by a resident and see a neatly groomed yard, but can’t see what the backyard offers.  The Columbus Chamber of Commerce, with the help of 6 residents will make available their backyards to be viewed on June 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Participants will be able to visit with the home owner, ask questions about the many different plants, how it was done and such – get ideas for your own yard.

Backyards on the tour are: Tracy & Kim Brown, 5248 SE Hwy 160; A Moment in Time, 5806 SE Hwy 160; Jay & Rhonda Hatfield, 894 SE 20th St; Wes & Jan Houser, 510 N. Riverside Dr.; Charles & Linda Napier, 500 S. Kansas Ave and Smittle House, 426 S. Kansas Ave.  Each of these homes has unique features in their backyards - texture patios, in ground pools, flower gardens, fountains. Ideas that can be adapted to any backyard.

Tickets are on sale for $5.00 per person at American Bank, Commerce Bank, Exchange State Bank, Stanley Bank and the Chamber office. Participants can also purchase tickets at the garden site.  Travel at your leisure and chose your path of travel.

Master Gardner, Jim Hall will give a container gardening workshop at 4:15 p.m. in the city park for those attending the tour.  The container gardens will be given as door prizes. Participants will have their ticket stamped at each location, at the workshop they will be placed in a drawing.
