On the heels of helping the Pittsburg State women’s basketball team to back-to-back MIAA wins last week, senior DePrice Taylor was named the league’s Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Taylor, a 5-foot-9 junior from Detroit, Mich., averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists as the Gorillas won a pair of conference home games last week.

In a 69-56 win Wednesday, Taylor scored 12 points and dished out seven assists to go with five rebounds. She scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half, including a three-pointer after UNO had cut the Gorillas' lead to five with less than 10 minutes to go.

She scored 13 of her 17 points in the second half of PSU's 72-67 victory over Missouri Western — six coming in the final four minutes after the Griffons had grabbed a 61-58 advantage to help PSU regain the lead. Taylor was 7 of 11 from the field in the game.

Taylor is a graduate of Trinity Catholic High School, and transferred to PSU from Barton County (Kan.) Community College after her freshman season.
