Laura Lavon “Bonnie” Raymond Watts, 97, of Girard, died at 4:40 P.M., Thursday, May 28, 2009 in the Girard Medical Center where she entered May 22.

Laura Lavon “Bonnie” Raymond Watts, 97, of Girard, died at 4:40 P.M., Thursday, May 28, 2009 in the Girard Medical Center where she entered May 22.
She was born April 15, 1912 in Pittsburg, Kansas, a daughter of Charles Henry and Laura (McWilliams) Griffin.  Her mother died shortly after her birth and she was raised by her father and paternal grandparents, James Henry and Henrietta (Carson) Griffin.  She grew up and attended schools in Pittsburg.
She married Oliver Perry Raymond on December 16, 1936 in Neosho, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on October 25, 1958.  She married Marcel E. Watts on September 16, 1965 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1973.
She was a homemaker and lived in Pittsburg, Chicago, Illinois, and Girard.  She returned to the Kansas area in 1942.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Girard, the Mary and Martha Sunday School Class and the American Baptist Women.
Survivors include 8 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Those providing for her care were Carolyn Chips of Girard and the staff of the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard.   
She was preceded in death by sisters Helen M. Wright, on October 17, 1978, Marion Leona Griffin, on June 23, 1910, and a niece, Morgene Lina.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Ken Sommerfeldt officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg.  Friends may call after 1:00 P.M., Sunday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
