Joshua David Elliott graduated in May from the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering and a minor in public affairs.
He has just finished a six-week laboratory requirement, and starting July 13 will be employed by Shell Oil Company in Martinez, Calif.
Elliott graduated summa cum laude in the chemical engineering school, and received the Thomas Philipose Outstanding Senior Award in the Guy T. McBride Jr. Honors Program in Public Affairs for Engineers.
While in college he worked as business manager for the school newspaper, interned for a summer with Conoco-Phillips in Borger, Texas, and participated in a trip to Washington, D.C., to interview legislators, lobbyists and experts involved with a coal carbon sequestration bill moving through Congress.
A 2005 Pittsburg High School graduate, Elliott is the son of Jeffrey and Ann Elliott. His grandparents are Gordon and Beverly Elliott and Barbara and the late William Fetzer.
