Joe Robert “Bob” Ferraro, 72, of Palm Springs, CA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2009 at his home.

Joe Robert “Bob” Ferraro, 72, of Palm Springs, CA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 22, 2009 at his home.

He was born May 20, 1937 at Mulberry, Kansas, to Joe and Grace (Filosa) Ferraro. He graduated from Mulberry High School in 1955. He then attended Pittsburg State University, where he received his degree in nursing, and later received his CRNA in Springfield, IL.

Mr. Ferraro served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Captain and also received the Purple Heart.

He worked as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Mt. Carmel Medical Center and later at the Labette County Medical Center in Parsons.

Mr. Ferraro was of Catholic faith, and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons, while living there.

Survivors include two sons, R. Gregory Ferraro of Parsons, KS and Chris Ferraro of Overland Park, KS; two daughters, Jane Kathryn Brown of Roeland Park, KS and Lisa Ferraro of Lenexa, KS; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor Ferraro and Mike Lewis “Gege” Ferraro; and two sisters, Savaren Barone and Evelyn Marie Packard.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (July 1) at the Brenner Mortuary with Fr. Larry Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at the Brenner Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery, where the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post #64 will provide graveside military rites.
