    Sunflower Kiwanis


    Sunflower Kiwanis Club will meet for breakfast at 6:45 a.m. in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital. Dawn Taylor of Edward Jones Investments will be the speaker.

    Sunflower Kiwanis
    Sunflower Kiwanis Club will meet for breakfast at 6:45 a.m. in dePaul Hall, Via Christi Hospital. Dawn Taylor of Edward Jones Investments will be the speaker.
    Members are making plans to attend the Kiwanis Mid-Year Convention March 8 and 9 in Topeka. Young Children Priority One project at the statewide convention will be to donate diapers to Diaper Depot, which is managed by the Junior League of Topeka and serves children from newborns to age 5.
    Potential members are always welcome at Sunflower Kiwanis meetings.
    Veterans service representative
    A veterans service representative will be at the Homer Cole Community Center, 3003 N. Joplin, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Anyone needing veterans assistance may contact Ryan Robinson at 620-331-0540 or the center at 231-9773.
    Companions in Grief
    Harry Hynes  Memorial Hospice will host a Companions in Grief meeting at 2 p.m. in the Pittsburg Public Library seminar room.
    St. Peter’s pancakes
    St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 306 W. Euclid, will have a Shrove Tuesday pancake feed from 5 to 7 p.m.
    Included will be Frontenac sausage and a beverage. Free-will offerings will be accepted for the church youth and their summer camp.
    Ash Wednesday services are planned at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the church.
    Zion pancakes
    A  Shrove Tuesday pancake supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Broadway and Jackson.
    Several varieties of made-from-scratch pancakes, sausage and beverage will be available for a free-will donation, with proceeds used for the local broadcast of “The  Lutheran Hour.”
    Music/dance night
    A Valentine’s Day dance for  senior adults will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Homer Cole Community  Center, 3003 N. Joplin.
    Area musicians provide music for listening and dancing. Those attending are asked to bring a finger food. Admission is $1. Anyone needing  additional information may call 231-9773.
    Chapter CP, PEO
    Chapter CP. PEO, will  have a regular meeting at 10 a.m. at Wesley House. Leann Webb, Deborah Dallman and Laura Lea will be hostesses, and members are asked to bring donations of personal products for Wesley House.
    A luncheon will be served after the meeting, and Ellie Foster, Wesley House pastor and executive director, will present the program.
    Chapter IO, PEO
    Chapter IO, PEO, will meet at noon at the Berry Patch  Tea Room, 108 W. Third, with Becky May and Kathy Cattaneo as hostesses.
    The program will be a Valentine’s Day special, with members asked to bring ingredients to be used to bake a cake to donate to Wesley House.

    Chapter AQ, PEO, will meet at noon at the home of Krista Smith. Co-hostesses will be Ronda Ison, Evainda Vogel and Lori Fleming.
    Program will be given by Shirley Thomas on “What Brought You to Pittsburg.”
    Chapter CJ, PEO
    Chapter CJ, PEO, will meet at 4 p.m. at 209 Elmwood Drive with Frances Mitchelson as hostess. Serving as co-hostesses will be Barbara Sims and Virginia Lawrence.
    The program on “Love” will be given by Mrs. Mitchelson.
    Lions board
    Pittsburg Lions Club will have a board meeting at 6 p.m. in the Sheridan Room, Via Christi Hospital.
    ARMA TOPS
    ARMA — The ARMA TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
    Chapter meetings include private weigh-in, information on good nutrition, educational programs and moral support and encouragement to help members reach their weight loss goals.

    Arma bingo
    ARMA — Arma American Legion will have bingo night, starting with early bird games at 6:30 p.m. Regular games will follow immediately after the early bird games.
    Elks bingo
    Pittsburg Elks Lodge will host bingo night, open to the public. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with card sales at 5:30 p.m. and mini games at 6 p.m.  Regular games begin at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available.
