Pearl Darlene Leeper, 74, of Girard, Kansas, formerly of Ames, Nebraska died at 1:36 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2013 in the Girard Medical Center.

Pearl Darlene Leeper, 74, of Girard, Kansas, formerly of Ames, Nebraska died at 1:36 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2013 in the Girard Medical Center.

Pearl was born February 25, 1938 in Linden, Iowa, a daughter of Otto David and Florence Arabelle (Gregg) Stonehocker.

Pearl graduated from Stuart-Dexter High School in Iowa.

She married Lyle Leeper on March 16, 1962 in Fremont, Nebraska.  He preceded her in death on August 13, 1992.  After Lyle’s first wife, Marie, died, Pearl took on the duties of helping him raise her sister’s 7 children plus her own two and one she had with Lyle.  Pearl’s life was very busy raising ten children with Lyle.

Pearl worked as a certified nurse aide and a certified medicine assistant in a nursing home in Nebraska and later as a cook at Kindler’s Café in Nebraska as well as other jobs.

Pearl’s hobbies were fishing, dancing, and listening to country western music.  She also enjoyed visiting her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Survivors are daughters Darlene Stover and husband Paul of Fairbanks, Alaska, Marilyn Hart and  friend Paul of Lancaster, California, Diane M. Culp of Girard, Mary Prokopec and husband Richard of Clarkson, Nebraska, Janet Lucas and friend Frank of Arlington, Nebraska, and Jackie De Ryke and  husband Mike of Shelby, Nebraska; her sons Bill Leeper and friend Pam of Chanute, Kansas, Ron Leeper and wife Ida of Chanute, Roy Leeper and wife Kelly of Adair, Iowa, and Jim Stonehocker of Adair; a sister, Sarah Davis of Chariton, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents;  her husband; a grandson, Blair Stover; her siblings Floyd, Forest, Rex, and Leonard Stonehocker and Marie Leeper, Bonnie Cassady, Jean Welton, and Ruby Belew.

Memorial services will be Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Morrisberg Cemetery in Dale, Iowa.
