Students at George Nettels Elementary in Pittsburg will be welcomed by a new principal next school year.

USD 250 superintendent Destry Brown said former principal Andy Gottlob submitted his resignation earlier this semester.

“He was ill and was on leave,” Brown said. “He was on extended leave through the remainder of the year.”

The reason for Gottlob’s resignation is a personnel matter related to several factors that are considered confidential.

The opening was posted on the district’s Web site on Feb. 15 and the  application process is under way.

Brown said applications will be screened today, and he hopes interviews will take place next week, with a candidate recommendation at the next Board of Education meeting on March 11.

The new hire would begin July 1.
