Spencer Bernhardt made a three-quarter court shot at the buzzer of the third quarter, giving Pittsburg a 42-37 lead en route to a 62-44 win.

Kaleb Owens made five 3-point shots and was among three players in double figures, joined by FeDor Lomax and Tanner Ellis. Stefon Rich scored six points and because of early foul trouble, he sat out the entire second quarter.

Aaron Bigando led Columbus with 15 points and Jordan Morgan and Nate Bole each had 10 for the Titans.

Pittsburg plays host Fort Scott in the semifinals Friday night. The Tigers defeated Frontenac 62-43 behind 17 points from Johnathan Stark and 11 from Austin Sather.

The Tigers led 16-9 after one quarter and incrementally extended their lead the rest of the game.

In this substate, Girard defeated Prairie View 52-34 with 22 points and six 3-pointers by Devin Alters.

Girard will now face top seed Anderson County, which defeated Baxter Springs 76-20, in the other semifinal game.

CHEROKEE — The St. Mary’s Colgan girls played their way into the Class 3A substate semifinals with a three-point road victory over Southeast.

Taylor Bolinger led Colgan with 12 points and Aliee Story added seven.

Colgan (10-10) will play top seed Caney Valley at home Friday.
