  • LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Middle-class tax-cuts

  • Dear Editor,

Last week the Senate voted to keep tax cuts for those making under $250,000 a year. Now the House is getting ready to vote on an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts too, but Republicans like Rep. Jenkins are refusing to pass a middle-class tax break unless the wealthy get a payoff.

A majority of Americans??Democrat and Republican??think the wealthy should pay more in taxes, not less. A large proportion of the public does not want to see an extra extension of Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. Since few of us are members of the the top one percent of taxpayers, we need that tax cut.
We should all be aware that Republicans, including Rep. Jenkins, are holding middle-class tax breaks hostage in order to get an extra payoff for millionaires.
Don’t spend that tax cut yet, Rep. Jenkins will vote the GOP party line. She always does. The middle class tax cut won’t happen.
