Clarence E. Lohmeyer, 89, of Girard, died at 8:55 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac where he entered September 2, 2011.

Clarence E. Lohmeyer, 89, of Girard, died at 8:55 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac where he entered September 2, 2011.

He was born October 17, 1922 in Halstead, Kansas, a son of William Henry and Louella Christine (Stein) Lohmeyer.  He attended schools in Halstead and graduated from Halstead High School.

He served in the US Army during W.W.II.

He married Barbara Lenora Brees on June 26, 1955 in Beulah, Kansas.  She preceded him in death on August 29, 2010.

Clarence owned and operated Lohmeyer’s Farmers Exchange in Girard and later he was a salesman of automobile parts and chemicals for the Malco Corporation in Ohio.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Girard.  He was a past commander of the Steven Bennefeld Post No. 7479, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion, both of Girard.

Survivors include nephews William Lohmeyer of Phoenix, Arizona and Arthur Lohmeyer of Denver, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by brothers Marvin and Carl Lohmeyer.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday at the Girard Cemetery with Rev. Steve Cole officiating.  Graveside military honor will be given by the George C. Brown Post No. 26, American Legion of Girard.  Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.  Friends may call after 1:00 p.m., Sunday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
