Crawford County Sheriff Sandy Horton said Monday that he believes foul play may be involved in the case of the Mulberry man reported missing late last week.

Richard A. Davis, 37, has been reported missing since around noon Friday by his wife. Davis is 5-foot-9 and weighs 145 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray T-shirt, and a denim jacket.

While he cannot yet comment on the specifics of the investigation, Horton said “we are finding some evidence that suggests foul play was involved.”

Horton declined to comment on whether or not the incident is at all linked with the case of Duane Wahl, a 33-year-old Mulberry man who allegedly shot his own house on Oct. 5 and then reported it as a drive-by shooting.

Following an investigation into that incident, Wahl was arrested and is facing charges of falsely reporting a crime, obstruction of the legal process, criminal damage of property and unlawful discharge of a weapon in city limits. Wahl, who was released from a jail on a $2,000 bond, is expected to appear in court on Dec. 9.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging anyone with information to call the office at 620-724-8274.
