A turnover on the opening kickoff did not seem to phase the Frontenac Raiders one bit.

The Raiders forced Northeast to turn the ball over on downs and took it in for a quick score on their way to 54-0 shutout of the Vikings.

The dominant victory gave the Raiders their fifth win in a row and they remain unbeaten in district play going into next week's game at Erie on Thursday night.

Aside from that early miscue, FHS dominated every aspect of the game, even returning the favor on special teams by recovering two fumbles and forcing two more.

The onslaught against the Vikings was made even worse by penalties. On the verge of the red zone in the first quarter, a flag was thrown for an illegal procedure. The play continued and quarterback J.T. Richardson threw an interception to Bryce Burdette, which would have been returned for  a touchdown (Burdette later picked-off another for a 44-yard score), but multiple personal fouls were called on both teams. Frontenac declined the initial penalty and kept the ball.

The flag throwing in the first half did not stop there, as both teams racked up over 100 yards worth and ultimately resulted in sideline warnings and an ejection for each team.

Despite this unruliness, the Raiders were able to rack up a commanding 47-point halftime lead because of excellent field position provided by the defense and special teams. The large advantage resulted in a a running clock and brought the remainder of the game to a swift end.

Throughout the game, Frontenac showcased its future with an impressive performance from freshman running back Zach Hensley.  He rushed for 75 yards on just seven carries, including touchdowns of 10 and 28 yards.

After Erie beat Southeast 68-30, the stage is set for a showdown between the Red Devils and the Raiders for the top seed in 3A district play next Thursday.
