Hazel D. Beam, 97, a lifelong resident of Girard, died at 4:45 p.m., Sunday in the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard where she entered in August of 2003.



She was born April 2, 1914 in Girard, the daughter of John and Sara (Miller) Young.  She grew up and attended schools in Girard and graduated from Girard High School.

She married Harold Beam on October 27, 1935 in the United Methodist Parsonage in Girard.  He preceded her in death on March 10, 1994.

She was a housewife and homemaker and they were farmers at rural Girard.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Farlington.

Distant relatives that provided for her care are Paula Helms of Frontenac and Laura Eckler of Minden Mines, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Rev. Steve Cole officiating.  Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.

Friends may call after 3:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
