  • This year the St Paul girls and boys basketball teams competed in Sub-State basketball in Udall. The girls were ranked second and the boys third. Both teams were knocked out in the second round.
The boys, with their third seed, were matched up against the number sixth seed Flint Hills. The St. Paul boys won 30 – 57 and advanced into the next round, facing the Udall Eagles. The team went on a run at the end but it was not enough to win, they fell short 75 – 81.
Senior Tryce Nelson said, “Coach Wiatrak gave us a good scouting report and that helped us learn the offensive plays of the other team. I was disappointed that we didn't make it to the big dance, but I was proud for what we had accomplished this year and I felt like we left it all out on the court.”
The St.Paul boys’ basketball team won their early season tournament, took third in the Lancer Classic, and won the League Title.
The St Paul girls played against Caldwell. It was a tough game where both teams kept fighting for that win, the girls lost the game 40-41, it was a painful loss as they really wanted to go to State. This is what junior Camri Burke had to say about improving for next basketball season, “ We need to come mentally ready to practice each day and for every game so that we can be the best we can be.”
Although no one advanced to State, both the boys and girls should be incredibly proud of the season the have had, and we wish you all the best for the next season.
